Video - Guest Design - Vintage Album

Today's "DT Post Card"

Hey everyone!  I was asked to Guest Design over at Stamps & fun = Creativity blog
challenge.  This week's challenge is a sketch challenge.

My post is up a bit early but the challenge starts Monday July 26!  I used some older GCD Studios pipeline (Paris Nights) that I have had that I bought LOTS of!  I created the base for this vintage album out of one piece of 8 1/2 X 11 card stock.  (I will be doing a video tutorial on this in the future!)

I started matting up the various mats I had cut to fit the album.  I inked them up with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I also like to add an inside pocket for someone to add pictures or other mats into.  Another hidden pocket is in the right side.  There is a full tag pullout.  This could have either a photo on it, or even some journalling adhered to i
t!  Also on black remember you can always write on the back with pencil or white pen!

I added some sewn areas to add some embellishment and interest.  I had some Eiffel Tower images and Paris images and used them on this album by layering them.

I felt like I needed a few more accents so I used some bling, a spinner/compass metal element, and a few other accents.  I also had an old "Paris" stamp set that I have no idea which company it is from, but I stamped a few stamps throughout this album to add more interest.  I love how this album looks and it was fun to make!

I hope you enjoyed this project!  Please check out the other DT members' projects!  Thanks so much for joining me for this Challenge over at Stamps & fun = Creativity!

Sketch - Video - Guest Design Tutorial

Today's "DT Post Card"

Hey everyone!  I was asked to Guest Design over at Stamps & fun = Creativity blog challenge.  This week's challenge is a sketch challenge.

I used some older Bo Bunny paper lines to create this card.  I first distressed and roughed up the edges of all the papers I used.  I then inked them all with vintage photo ink.  I love this look!  I layered the papers out as the sketch had shown.

I felt that something was missing so I grabbed this fabric-ie doily I had.  It was from my stash so I can't remember which company made it, but I'm sure you can find them still if you search for doilies/fabric/material.  I also added this tag (also from Bo Bunny) and added a brad on this tag.  I layered up my flowers and used some hot glue to hold the doily and the flowers in place.

I feel it adds creativity to add to sketches.  While you can see the sketch in my card, you can also see an uniqueness too.  I find as a crafter doing both sketches (by the book) and (with some changes) great for growing as a crafter.

I hope you enjoyed this project!  Please check out the other DT members' projects!  Thanks so much for joining me for this Challenge over at Stamps & fun = Creativity!

Video Tutorial Series - June 2015 - Card 6

Today's "Video Tutorial"

June 2015 - Card Series Card 6 of 6

I'm teaching a card class and thought it would be awesome to include a video tutorial for the people who buy the class as a kit!

I love this dress!  It is fun to make out of a simple doily die!  If you don't have a doily die, any craft store will sell paper doilies!  All you have to do it fold it a certain way and you can fold up this dress quite quick!  You can make the ruffles different each time depending on how you fold the doily.  Watch the video tutorial below to see how it is folded!

I love using embossing folders to create elegant backgrounds for wedding cards.  I also used this green paper as a back drop for this dress, just so it stuck out from the white embossed background.  This is a spellbinders label die that I used but any die could work, or even a rectangle shaped piece of card stock.

Lastly I added some bling on the dress and side of the card just to jazz things up.  I love how this look and while this is a more subtle coloured card, you can do this card in black/gold combinations that are WOW!

Arrows Challenge - Video - Guest Designer

Today's "DT Post Card"

Hey everyone!  I was asked to Guest Design over at Stamps & fun = Creativity blog challenge.  This week's challenge is the arrows challenge.  As soon as I saw this paper collection I had in my stash, I had to use it!

I used some of this Carta Bella paper and picked out some papers that worked well together.  I used a sketch from my Pinterest page.  I have TONS of card sketches that can help you make great cards so check it out.  I have three boards of just sketches!

I layered some papers and used a Martha Stewart Punch to create the border to go behind the stripped strip.  I then layered up my image with several mats to create some interest.  I added a flower with a pearl, so to keep it consistent, I placed three bling on the top right corner.

Lastly, I used the wink of stella glitter pen to add some shimmer to the hearts.  I love the colours in this card and the greys in the paper!  It all works well together!

I hope you enjoyed this project!  Please check out the other DT members' projects!  Thanks so much for joining me for this Challenge over at Stamps & fun = Creativity!

Video Stamps & fun - Guest Design - Two circles

Today's "DT Post Card"

Hey everyone!  I was asked to Guest Design over at Stamps & fun = Creativity blog challenge.  This weeks challenge is to have 2 circles.

This is an interesting challenge as most of us try to keep things in "threes or odd numbers".  With specific placement though have only two circles on this card did work.  A combination of a great sketch, sequins/accents, and the right papers.  I used an older MME pipeline for this card, but really any paper collection would work.

The large circle was cut from a MFT stitched circle stax.  Find a link below for this product.  For the sentiment, I used a Simon Says Stamp set and then used a 1 inch circle punch from Martha Stewart.  Lastly I added two sequins and the little wooden star from studio calico to finish up the card.

I love this layout.  I pin many card sketches on Pinterest.  Please check out my Pinterest page with TONS of card sketches that can help you make great cards.

I hope you enjoyed this project!  Please check out the other DT members' projects!  Thanks so much for joining me for this Challenge over at Stamps & fun = Creativity!

Video Tutorial Series - June 2015 - Card 5

Today's "Video Tutorial"

June 2015 - Card Series Card 5 of 6

I'm teaching a card class and thought it would be awesome to include a video tutorial for the people who buy the class as a kit!

This is a beautiful image that is a digi image I picked up years ago.  I just photoshopped it to match the colours of the cardstock.  I used the blue prints 13 set to cut out a few flagged layers for this card.  I added a ribbon and some sequins to add some sparkle to this card.  Lastly I added this sentiment.

I love the calming colours and the image in this card.

Card 6 coming soon!

Check out my tutorial in the video below!
