Quick Tip #2 "Sanding Blocks" - No more fuzzy edges!

Today's "Quick Tip 2

Sanding Blocks"

I just love this tip because how many times do we let our trimmer blades get too worn down.  There are some ways you can try to resharpen the blades but most people will just replace them with new blades.

But if you have cut your paper already and noticed fuzzy edges, this tip is for you.  I saw this from Jennifer McGuire's Favourite Products Series and I immediately knew this was something I could use.  Let's face it, everyone promotes products but most of us don't have the money to purchase everything that is promoted.  But for me these blocks would be awesome for me because I had cut several sheets of paper and ended up with the little fuzzy edges.   The blades replacement might be $10 for a pack of two but if I can get a little more life out of my cutter I do try.  Some of the stronger card stocks will still cut nicely but the thinner ones will start to leave fuzzy edges.  So I usually won't replace my blade until the thicker card stocks are now jagged.

So just take a block and hold your papers and sand the edges as I show in the video.  Happily you can say goodbye to jagged and fuzzy edges.  Of course this product could be used in distressing and more mixed media work where you would sand and distress.  If you are into Tim Holtz type art, this would be a useful product for that as well.

If you don't want to buy this product but the idea interests you, why not go to Walmart, or maybe a dollar store and grab some sand paper.  You can wrap it around something that you can use and you will have the same result.  What I like about this product specially is the size, shape and how light it is.  The inside is foam and it is very light to hold.  These are also easy to store.

So I hope you liked this quick tip.  I really like the product.  Honestly a package of 5 will last you a lifetime.  This really is a one time buy.  If you have a friend, why not split a pack as I haven't even used up one yet!

Review #1 Alternative "Stencil Brush"

Today's "Alternative "Stencil Brush"

The crafting world has tons of tools.  It is so fun to find similar tools you can use that aren't made just for paper crafting!

So when I was walking through Walmart, this brush caught my eye.  I was interested in getting some stencil brushes online, but I hated to wait for it to be shipped to me.  The other thing is it is nice to feel a brush or tool before you buy it.  I bought this brush with the intention of using it as a stencil brush.

For this review video, I used this brush over a MFT stencil.  I think you really need to start your brushing from either sides.  If you just start brushing in the middle, it will turn out much as if you took a inking dauber and started in the middle.  You need to come in from the outside of the stencil.

I really feel that it did a great job.  I have some other videos coming using this brush, so keep looking out for that!

For the card, I used the piece I stencilled.  I added some balloons I die cut from my new Lawn Fawn Balloon dies set.  I also used my new Jellibean stamp set too.  I loved using the threads to add to the balloons.

I really enjoyed putting this card together.  Lots of fun techniques and little elements and of course I love the background that I made with this Daler Big Brush.

DT - Favorite Colour Combo - Video Tutorial

Today's "DT Post Card"

For this weeks challenge it is to use your favourite colour combos!!!

I love blues and purples and they look so nice together!  Check out this video I filmed of this card being made from start to finish.  It is amazing how sometimes simple cards have so many techniques and products!  So I didn't care for the plain blue background, so I used a MFT grid die and some purple distress ink to just make it more interesting!  I really like how it looks now.  I used my spellbinders circle dies to add a bit of a spot light to this card.

I used some scrap purple paper I had to stamp a sentiment with my mini-mister.  I love this tool, how did I ever survive without it!  I then used some pop dots to pop it up.  I added the butterfly and the little hearts I cut as well.  I added some cling bling (which I used a copic marker to turn purple) and one blue bling in the middle of the butterfly.  I love doing this, it just gives more definition to the butterfly.  Lastly I used the Nuvo crystal drops to create 5 white dots under my sentiment.  Wow so many supplies and techniques, it is amazing when you start writing about it how many things you did/used!

I hope you enjoyed this project!  Please check out the other DT members' projects!  Thanks so much for joining me for this Challenge over at Stamps & fun = Creativity!

Haul #2 - Michaels - Walmart - Local Scrapbook Shop

Today's "Haul 2 - Michaels/Walmart"

Hey everyone, I did a little local shopping and thought I would do a very quick video on my scrapbooking haul.  I am really interested in adding some glitter to some projects so I bought a few different types.  Also some storage boxes from Michaels, sequins,  as well as some other goodies!

I love these haul videos as I mentioned in this video because you can really see how big things are and learn more about the products.  This makes it easier to make a decision whether or not to purchase an item.  Especially if you have to purchase the item online, this will hopefully help!

Quick Tip #1 - Video - Save Money - Shammy

Today's "Quick Tip 1

Shammy - Stamp Cleaners"

I really wanted to do some quick tip videos.  Firstly I think they are helpful and a lot of fun.  Plus some of these tips will save a lot of money or time.

For this first video I have shown how instead of buying brand name Shammy Stamp Cleaners, that you can buy a simple car shammy down the auto isle and cut these large pieces up into several small shammy pieces to use when crafting.  Plus when the smaller pieces get extremely dirty, it is no problem to replace with a new one at quite a low cost.

These shammy pieces will not leave fibres on your stamps nor will it leave any residue.  Baby wipes sometimes leave some residue on your stamps making it difficult to get a good impression the next time you use your stamp.  Also with just water with this shammy, you will not need any fancy stamp cleaning spray or product!

Most dollar stores today will sell these type of shammy cloths.  Walmart and many home stores will as well.  If you need to purchase them online, check out amazon!

Also check out your local dollars stores & Amazon!  If the linked products are out of stock, just search the item name.  There are many other stores/websites that will sell this product!  I have only linked to the one I often buy from!

Copic Coloured Vellum - Altenew Stamps

Today's "Copic Coloured Vellum Card"

Hey everyone.  I had a great time making this card!  I did some prep to get ready for the card and I cut out 2 squares from the MFT pierced square die.  Firstly I cut out a white mat with white card stock and then secondly I cut the same size again out with just regular fun foam.  This will give it some dimension!  I adhered the white card-stock die cut to the foam die cut and put this aside.

Once I had that I took my Altenew Persian Motifs stamp set and stamped this image onto vellum with some light ink.  I then flipped over the vellum and used my copic markers to colour in this image.  I love how wonderful the colouring turned out.  After I was done with my copic markers I used some regular pencil crayons to go over top of a few spots both on the flowers and the leaves/stem.  It just added some nice extra details.  Once this was done, I then used the dies for this set and cut out this image nicely.

To put it together, I took my card base and then flicked some green ink I found to match.  I love these little splatters.  They aren't took big or too much!  I then added that piece I put aside with the foam.  I adhered it down to the main card base.  I then took my vellum and hide some clear glue dots and adhered this piece down.  I then used my mini-Misti to stamp the sentiment.  I love this Misti, what did I do without it!  Lastly I added the sequins to add some sparkle and to finish up the card.  I just love how this card turned out.  I usually don't do a lot of CAS cards, but I really enjoyed this one.

DT - Sketch Challenge - Video Tutorial

Today's "DT Post Card"

For this weeks challenge it is a Sketch Challenge!!

Check out this video I filmed of this card being made from start to finish.  I love making cards, but always find doing a sketch a little more work.  I did enjoy this sketch though, it was a nice layout!

Note:  I did some copic colouring on these balloon previously and then cut them and used them for this card.  I used MFT pierced rectangles dies for the dies and I also used Kaiser Craft paper-line - Violet Crush.  I love the purples in this paper-line!

For the image I used this adorable owl.  I love using this image, it never gets old!  I also had some fun with some liquid pearls.  See my video for more!

I hope you enjoyed this project!  Please check out the other DT members' projects!  Thanks so much for joining me for this Challenge over at Stamps & fun = Creativity!
